How to Split a Video for Instagram Stories
Create consecutive video files for Stories and move each cut to a pause that keeps speech and actions clear.

Check the Story composer before choosing lengths
Open Instagram on the phone you will use and check how it handles the video now. Story behavior can change with the app and account. Use the duration available in that current flow as your planning constraint rather than relying on an old number in a tutorial.
VideoMultiCut uses manual ranges. It does not select a current Instagram preset or split the whole recording at fixed intervals. Manual boundaries take longer, but they let you avoid a cut in the middle of the point you are making.
Map the video as a short sequence
Decide what each Story part should contain. A studio update could be setup, first result, adjustment, and final result. Mark those parts in source order and name them story-01 through story-04.
Keep adjoining ranges when viewers need the complete recording. Leave gaps when the source contains setup time or repeated attempts that do not belong in the Story. Preview every transition between files.
Move the cut to a natural pause
Listen near the planned boundary. A cut after a completed sentence is easier to follow than one at the exact time limit. If the next sentence is too long, consider shortening the previous part or giving that sentence its own file.
Watch visual movement as well. Finish the camera move or reveal before ending the clip. Start the next part early enough for the viewer to understand the new shot.
Check framing and order on the phone
VideoMultiCut extracts the source frame. It does not crop a landscape video to 9:16, follow a face, add captions, or design a Story layout. Use another editor first or afterward when the frame needs those changes.
Open the exported files on the phone and select them in order. Watch the posted result from another account when continuity matters. The editor prepares the clips; Instagram controls upload processing and playback in the app.
