How to Split a Lecture Recording into Lessons
Turn one lecture recording into topic files that include the explanation, example, and conclusion students need.

Use the lesson structure already in the recording
List the lecture's topic changes before setting any cut points. A useful structure might be definition, first example, common mistake, second example, and assignment. Each item becomes a candidate file.
Do not force every file to the same duration. A complete example may need more time than a definition. The goal is a file that can be understood and assigned on its own.
Keep the question with its answer
Start before the lecturer states the problem or displays the slide that frames the explanation. End after the conclusion, final line of working, or instruction for what to do next.
When a later example depends on a previous definition, repeat a small amount of context or add the dependency to the filename and course notes. Cutting at every slide change can create fragments that students cannot use alone.
Name files for the course task
Use names such as week-03-chain-rule-definition and week-03-chain-rule-example-1. Course, week, topic, and sequence produce a predictable folder order without relying on the browser's download time.
Keep any worksheet, transcript, or caption file beside the videos using the same base names. VideoMultiCut exports video ranges only. It does not divide a transcript or create captions for the new files.
Check the teaching result
Open each downloaded clip and confirm that the board, slides, pointer, and sound remain readable. A mathematically correct range can still fail if the first displayed line is missing or the final result disappears too quickly.
VideoMultiCut does not identify topics or chapters automatically. The instructor or editor chooses the ranges. Start with one lecture whose structure is already clear and use the exported files in the same order as the course plan.
