# How to Cut Part of a Video Received on WhatsApp

Save an authorized WhatsApp video, select the useful moments, and create separate files you can forward or keep.

## Save the video before editing it

Start by saving the received video to your device. VideoMultiCut opens a local file; it does not read a WhatsApp chat, open a message link, or download media from an account. Only edit and share a recording when you have permission to do so.

Play the saved file in the device's normal video player. This checks that the download is complete and includes the expected sound. Then choose that file in VideoMultiCut and confirm that the browser preview works.

## Mark the useful parts once

Create a range around each moment you need. A school-event video might become introduction, performance, and closing-wave. A repair video might become the problem, the correct connection, and the finished result.

Name every selection before export. The new files no longer carry the surrounding WhatsApp conversation, so the filenames need to make sense in a download folder or a new message.

## Forward one clip or the set

Export one clip when the recipient needs a single moment. Use the ZIP to download a larger set together, then extract it before attaching the individual videos. WhatsApp cannot use a ZIP as a sequence of playable Status or chat videos.

Before forwarding, open each clip that matters and check whether it begins with enough context. A selected answer may need the question. A demonstration may need the object's starting position.

## Use the built-in trim for a single shorter copy

WhatsApp's editor can trim a video during the send flow. That is the shorter route when you need one simple excerpt and do not need a saved set of clips. Use VideoMultiCut when you want several ranges or filenames you can reuse outside the chat.

VideoMultiCut does not remove WhatsApp compression already present in the received file. It creates new exports from the saved source you provide. Open the recording and mark the first moment the next recipient actually needs.
